DESCRIPTION:Christian Aid Week is celebrated on the second week of May every year and in 2023\, it will take place from May 14 to 20. \nChristian Aid aims to provide humanitarian relief and long-term development support for poor communities worldwide\, while highlighting suffering\, tackling injustice\, and championing people’s rights. Once every year\, since 1957\, Christian Aid holds a week-long  fundraising drive. At Craigsbank and East Craigs we have collection tins available at the doors to each centre and hold a Hunger Lunch to raise funds. \nKeep an eye on this site for information on one-off fundraising activities. \nTo find out more about Christian Aid visit their website.

DESCRIPTION:‘Do This in Remembrance of Me’\n\n\n\nA Communion service will be held on Sunday 5 March 2023\, 10.30am \n\n\n\nALL ARE WELCOME \n\n\n\nAt Craigsbank we hold Communion services on four Sundays of the year in Craigsbank and four in East Craigs Church Centre. In addition Communion forms part of our service on Christmas Day and at Easter (on Maundy Thursday). You can read more here. \n\n\n\nThe Church of Scotland communion service has continually been reshaped as our culture and traditions change. As a result it is slightly different within each congregation. At Craigsbank we share an open table meaning that everyone of all ages are welcome.

DESCRIPTION:If you would like to consider this question then can we invite you to join any one or more of the BOOK DISCUSSIONS planned for this year? \n \nDuring 2023 our minister\, Alan Childs\, invites anyone who would like to join in a monthly book discussion group with a PROGRESSIVE theological inclination. \n \n\nIf you would like to develop and refresh your understanding of God\, the Bible\, faith\, the church and your life as a Christian\, and be challenged in the process\, then please consider joining the group for a monthly\, in person\, conversation about one book at a time. \n\n\n \nHere are the books that form the reading list\, divided into two parts for the year. The books are available through any of the online bookstores (including Bookshop.org which feeds profit back to independent bookshops)\, many high street bookshops\, or from the authors themselves. \n \nFebruary to May (4pm on the last Sunday of the month at Craigsbank Church hall) \n \n1 – What Is the Bible?: How an Ancient Library of Poems\, Letters\, and Stories Can Transform the Way You Think and Feel About Everything by Rob Bell (26 February) NOTE THIS ONE SESSION WILL START AT 5pm \n \n2 – Freeing Jesus: Rediscovering Jesus as Friend\, Teacher\, Savior\, Lord\, Way\, and Presence by Diana Butler-Bass (26 March) \n \n3 – Searching for Sunday: Loving\, Leaving\, and Finding the Church by Rachel Held Evans (30 April) \n \n4 – Accidental Saints: Finding God in All the Wrong People by Nadia Bolz-Weber (28 May) \n \nAugust to November (4pm on the last Sunday of the month at East Craigs Community Centre) \n \n1 – Inspired: Slaying Giants\, Walking on Water\, and Loving the Bible Again by Rachel Held Evans (27 August) \n \n2 – Jesus Unexpected: Ending the End Times to Become the Second Coming by Keith Giles (24 September) \n \n3 – Faith after Doubt: Why Your Beliefs Stopped Working and What to Do about It by Brian D. McLaren (29 October) \n \n4 – The Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne (26 November) \n \n\nEach book’s discussion will be held late on a Sunday afternoon over a glass of wine or a mug of coffee (your choice).
