Rev John McCulloch
  New Kirk minister swaps rural Argyll for Jerusalem  

A former Head of Hispanic Studies at Glasgow University has taken up one of the Church of Scotland's most unusual roles to lead the Kirk's congregation in Jerusalem.

Rev Dr John McCulloch was ordained and introduced to St Andrew's Scots Memorial Church just outside the Old City walls of Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.

Maryhill Parish Church
  Maryhill Parish Church launches its 8th Activity Directory  

The latest edition of the Maryhill Activity Directory is on its way to 32,000 households across Maryhill and its neighbouring communities in north Glasgow.

Around 1,500 people attended the launch for the 8th edition of the popular booklet on March 23 at Maryhill Parish Church. First produced in 2001, the directory now has its own website and downloadable phone app.

  Charity co-founder appointed chaplain to the Queen  

An Edinburgh minister who co-founded a children’s bereavement charity has been appointed as a Chaplain to Her Majesty the Queen.

Rev Liz Henderson, of Richmond Craigmillar Church in the east of the city, will formally join her Majesty’s Household as a Chaplain-in-Ordinary.

  Moderator opens refurbished Aberdeen church halls  

The Moderator of the General Assembly has officially re-opened church halls in Aberdeen that have undergone a £1.7million transformation.

Right Rev Dr Derek Browning was the guest preacher at a special Easter Sunday/rededication service at Queen’s Cross Church.

Tamsin Dingwall has been announced as the next Moderator of the National Youth Assembly. She will begin her role in August 2018.

South Sudan
  South Sudanese peacemakers find restored hope in Scotland  

Religious leaders from war torn South Sudan say their hopes for peace have been restored thanks to the Church of Scotland.

Eleven ministers from the troubled African country attended conflict resolution workshops in Scotland, which were co-ordinated by the Kirk.

  Church artist illustrates new edition of Gospel of St Luke  

A special edition of the Gospel of St Luke will feature artworks by Iain Campbell, artist-in-residence at St. George’s Tron Church in Glasgow.

The painting’s subjects were guests of Glasgow City Mission, a charity that works with vulnerable and disadvantaged people in Glasgow and has a close relationship with the congregation at St George’s Tron.

Youth Moderator
  Praise for innovative new Meet Your MP project  

The Scottish Churches Parliamentary Office (SCPO) has launched a new project designed to build links between congregations and their representatives in Westminster.

The ‘Meet Your MP’ project aims to help congregations develop honest conversations with their local members of parliament and to give church communities opportunities to influence the decisions that affect them.
